Free access to more than 5,000 enhanced digital books from now through August 30th.  During this free summer trial, all readers will share a single account that provides unlimited access to myON’s digital books, without the personalization elements.


The Atlanta Braves will again join with Georgia Public Library Service and DeKalb County Public Library to offer the “Home Run Readers” program, which allows children to earn certificates — and free game tickets — by reading and participating in online writing activities. The annual Summer Reading Program Sweepstakes, sponsored by Georgia Public Library Service and Georgia’s Path2College 529 Plan, will celebrate its fifth year in 2014, with “Fizz, Boom, Save for College.” Children across the state who were born in 1998 or after and who participate in the Summer Reading Program at their local library can enter for a chance to win a $5,529 college savings account contribution.

In its first four years, the program has awarded more than $42,000 to winning children and their libraries.

Co-sponsored by Georgia Public Library Service and the Atlanta Hawks, the Check-It-Out Reading Challenge will celebrate its tenth year with more fun and surprises than ever before. The supplemental Summer Reading program has awarded approximately 80,000 tickets to young readers who have participated so far. Students in kindergarten through 12th grade who sign up for the Vacation Reading Program will receive a Hawks bookmark. Follow the instructions on the bookmark to receive free tickets to a Hawks game.

TEEN PROGRAM CALENDAR


For Adults

DATES: June 1 – July 31
AGES: Over 17
REGISTRATION: Get a Punch Card @ your local branch
REQUIREMENTS: Earn a total of 6 “punches” on your punch card:

–Read a book (any format) for 1 punch

–Listen to a book (any format) for 1 punch

–Attend an Adult Summer Reading Club Program for 1 punch

–Contribute a book review to the Literary Elements Book Review blog for 1 punch

MATERIALS: Get your punch card @ your local branch.

Suggested Reading Lists

Turn in your completed punch card by July 31 to be eligible for prize drawings.

Grand prize is an all-expense paid night out on the town valued @ $300!
